Last month I started a trip around NZ. Now we are in Port Tarakohe.I’ve been on the trip for so long I feel like I never lived a real house. It is amazing.I feel like this my home and it is.I love the caravan. When the trip is over I can share with my friends what happened for a year.I’ll miss being in the caravan at a campground meeting new friends or playing in the wilderness-

Ngā Atua: The Gods

Today Rm 12 learned about ngā Atua. We drew pictures of the gods and their environments. We then learned about Ngā Takiwa Kare a Roto: The Zones of Regulation, which is the different levels of our emotions. Tangaroa, god of the sea, is in the blue zone, where we are low energy. Tane, the god of the forest, is in the green zone, where we are ready to go. Tawhirimatea, the god of the wind, is high energy, in the yellow zone. Tumatauenga, the god of war, is in the red zone- high energy. We will continue learning about our feelings and how we manage ourselves as we work together.

Here is our writing about our learning!

She has powers you can’t imagine. Once Maui tried to trick her but she fought back, creating a tree that can make fire, a long time ago.

This term we are learning about the Treaty of Waitangi. Here is a website that has information you can read through at home: https://waitangitreaty.wordpress.com/learners/

There is a Mihi Whakatau, or Meet the Teachers Evening, on Wednesday at 4- 5.30pm. If you cannot make it, it is ok to make a time to see me at another time, or pop by the classroom and sit with us as we work!

If you would like to learn te reo māori, please send me an email. There will be a parents’ page on this blog where we can share resources that you can print off, laminate and use or that can help you as you learn with your child.

You will see writing and pictures on this site, but not photos of your children. Photos will be shared on Class Dojo as that is private.
