How Gluten works by Jean!!

Hello do you know what gluten is? My class and I have been working on this gluten project since last week on Wednesday.

We started by choosing the different flours that had gluten in them,Gluten is these two things called glutenin and gliden plus a little bit of water to make gluten.

So,we got our flours and made to different dough’s,after the dough’s were done we had to go home and come back in the morning, so that the dough’s could rise over night. we rinsed one of the dough’s starch of, and all that was left was gluten.

with the other dough Vashti made fry bread for us so after our project we got to eat fry bread!!! Yay we all said.

Gluten is found in flour it is a protein and protein builds muscles.How do you make gluten? with gliadin and glutanin when they mix together they make gluten

Glutanin is little piece’s of string that goes round in circles. gliadin is the same except for string it’s balls that goes round in circles connected to each other.

 

I for one am very happy that I am learning about gluten because it is amazing to learn about. I’m not allergic to gluten. But my brother is so we don’t get him bread we get him cracker thingy’s if you are allergic to gluten I wouldn’t eat what room 12 made we tested the dough that was left over and made fry bread it was disgusting it was horrible it had no taste and it was to thick. I for one hated it so so so much I hope I make it better next time bye for now.

How Gluten Works By Kiwa

We are learning about gluten in rm 12 because we  were baking pizza dough.

Gluten is found in soy, dairy, meat and flour.

We made two doughs. We also used water, plain flour and high grade flour.

The next day we washed out the dough. The water was white. We stretched out the gluten. A lot of gluten was left. It was pretty sticky.

So next time use the right flour when you are baking. If you use the wrong flour it has too much gluten and it is chewy.

we’ve seen that if you are making fried bread or scones with plain flour do not keep on needing so that it’s not hard.

It’s really easy to make gluten. First rinse some dough. As the dough is rinsed the starch runs off. It will make gluten!yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, hello! I didn’t see you there!                                                                                                          I’m going to tell you a little something about gluten so let’s get started.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       WHAT IS GLUTEN?                                                                                  Gluten is a mixture of glutinin and gliadin. When the glutinin and gliadin are mixed together using water it makes gluten. Did you know that gluten actually makes your muscles?! So amazing!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                EXPERIMENT                                                                             In room 12 we did an experiment. First we chose different types of flour. My group chose holemeal ( Which has no gluten in it,) and plain flour ( Which has gluten in it.) We then mixed the flour with water and made dough.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            TEST                                                                                               Once the dough was finished we left it overnight. The next day we were ready to make the decision between rinsing or cooking it. We chose to rinse our holemeal and cook our plain flour.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           RESULTS                                                                                             This was a bit of a flop so here’s how it went. First, the holemeal didn’t do anything when we tried to rinse out the starch to see how much gluten was in it because there was no gluten in it! Gluten is a protein and a wheat did you know gluten is in some flours.Cake flour is not stretchy if you did not know that flour is a grain and a wheat.Some flours are used for tendering cakes muffins and pizza.Water and flour makes dough.Gluten flour is very stretchy and you can put air in to it.

 

We did a experiment and high grain flour was not stretchy but the plain flour was a little bit stretchy .We got gluten flour and Zion said it looks like poo and whaea Vashti said what kind of poo do you do Zion.  I don’t even want to know said whaea Vashti .

 

Today we rinsed the flour and we used the sieve – the water dissolves the flour and you can see the gluten.  When we finished  we made fry bread  it was so GOOD!!!  We had the fry bread with jam on it too.  Me and Taj were taking photos of us with the  fry bread.  Then it was morning tea, after morning tea we continued  with the experiment.  I hope you have a go at the experiment!

Next We made  Dough.  Sofia and I were doing dishes so we did not get to rinse our dough, but we got to eat it after it was made into fry bread.  It was hard as rocks! The Fry bread hurt my mouth. My dad can make his fry bread  because his bread has air and is much tastier!  then the other fry bread

Cake  has a little bit of gluten got  only  enough for it to be able to  stand up.And   bread his got a loot of gluten. And you can see the gluten in bread.So that is gluten.

Yesterday read team made ANZAC biscuits in garden to table when we poured the  White sugar we poured so much it’s filled half the   Bowl  we also made risotto Is to  groups one is the garden group one is the kitchen group  The garden teacher is Mr Thomas the kitchen teacher is fire Holly  The food we make we can eat but before we start cooking we have  to wash our hands or we might get sick that’s the same before we eat the food.  Or we will get sick also.yor in Loke  because where finished  and if you want to now more about  Garden to table  you will find out more.
